Scott's Post Show Blog 10/12/08

What a wild show this one was!   Scott Spiegel, whose importance to Hollywood simply cannot be understated, was off his freakin' rocker!   Never before in the history of radio has a guest provided their own sound effects.   Not only that but he was quick with 'em too.   After the show I called Tiffany Shepis, who had some really fun Scott Spiegel stories for me after he gave me a call while I was attending the Chicago Horror Film Festival.   She laughed, but I don't think she was all the surprised.   Based on her tales of him, she knows to go in with no expectations whatsoever of what the encounter will bring.

A friend of mine, Scott Ray, called in to the show from Kalamazoo, MI.   He was the one to got everything lined up.   He introduced me to Tiffany Shepis, Scott Spiegel, Tom Sullivan (another former guest of ours) and countless players and wannabes in Hollywood.   It truely is remarkable this guy knows and the amount of networking he gets done while living in Kalamazoo.   If he lived in LA, he'd have a big desk and his name on a nameplate somewhere.   Until then, it's a passion that's fun for him.   Just like Dobie and I with this show, he's got a hobby that he's hoping to find a way to turn a buck with.

Our second guest took us all by surprise.   She came recommended by Mary Sutherland (next weeks guest) and I saw the titles of the two books she wrote.   Normally, I would grab the images of the book covers for the front page of mothershipradio.com, but I've started a new full-time job and this week there just wasn't any time.   Had I seen the book covers, one featuring a blue Big Bird-like alien, I may have at least had a clue.   We've talked to a number of people on the show who have seen UFOs, which is new to me - I've never met a witness before.   And even with all of Dobie's interest in UFOs, I doubt he's ever talked to someone who has claimed to have been aboard such a craft, not to mention doing so on numerous occasions and even piloting one.

Not knowing what we were getting into, all of us in the studio were looking around at each other like, "is this for real?"   However, after a few more minutes, we were buckled in for the ride.   There's no doubt that there was and still is skepticism on my part - it's just the most wild story I've ever heard.   However, I've opened myself up to a lot since taking over hosting duties for this show, so I was ready to ask the serious questions and get the serious answers.   Bonnie's experiences are really a whole new reality, so it was a breeze to come up with questions.   After an hour with her, we ran out of time.   It's been a really nice problem we've had lately - too much content, too little time.   What a difference from the first two episodes of the show I co-hosted, which was in the afternoon and we had a total of zero guests.

The cross talk between us hosts was a bit less than I liked, however we were able to talk about an email sent to me that asked some questions about the 1979 crash of flight 191 and the eMailer possibly being connected on a spiritual sense by one of the victims.   If you're interested in hearing more about it, click on the link to hear Bonnie Meyer's interview on the main page.   Before Bonnie comes on, we discuss the email.
