Scott Markus Scott Markus started editing videos professionally in 1998, when he was just 17 years old. After spending the first few years filming and editing for clients, he decided to combine his passion for production with his interest in local ghost stories, which, at the time, was little more than a passing. In 1999 he filmed and released a feature-length documentary on Chicago ghost stories called Voices from the Chicago Grave. Instantly gaining notoriety from the documentary, Scott started touring Northern Illinois, lecturing at dozens of public and private events every autumn. While doing this, he started quietly working on a book on the topic. While researching the video, Scott came across more stories than he had time to cover in the video. In 2003 he released a self-published book titled "Voices from the Chicago Grave." Over the next several years, while the book sold at independent bookstores and on the web, Scott returned to the film industry, working on a number of productions including "Lost," "Prison Break," "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," and "The Dark Knight." He also co-wrote and directed his first feature film, shot completely in high definition: "...and Introducing Brian." In 2008 the book found a home. Scott revisited it for a re-release through Thunder Bay Press. In the nine years since the release of the documentary, Scott's web site, slimpictures.com, has become a large source of information regarding haunted sites in Illinois. The site became a community where readers of the book could ask Scott questions and share their own stories. In 2008, before the release of the updated book, Scott took over hosting and co-producing duties on the radio show "The Mothership Connection," which features guests and discussions on the unexplained. Co-hosting with Dobie Maxwell, the show airs every Sunday night from 8-10PM CDT on AM-1050 WLIP. |
